BOA successfully launches the 4th AOPS Vessel

BOA is proud to announce its engagement in a prestigious 4-year contract, with options for extension, to manage the load-out and float-off of six Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS). Each vessel, weighing approximately 6,000 tons, represents a significant milestone in maritime engineering and operational excellence.

On the 28th of November, the large semi-submersible heavy cargo barge BOABARGE 37 (140 x 38 x 9.15m) successfully completed the load-out, transportation, and float-off of the future fourth AOPS, HMCS William Hall. This vessel, measuring 103.6 meters in length with a beam of 19 meters and a displacement of 6,615 tons, marks a significant achievement in our operations.

BOABARGE 37 is contracted for the launching of all six AOPS being built by Irving Shipbuilding Inc. for the Canadian Navy. This complex process involves loading the vessels onto the barge using Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs). Following the installation of seafastening, the barge is expertly towed to the designated float-off site. The vessels are then floated off by ballasting the barge down to an impressive draft of 20 meters.

At BOA, we take full responsibility for all engineering and operational management related to the transport and float-off of these vessels. Our commitment to precision, safety, and efficiency ensures that each operation is executed flawlessly, reinforcing our position as a leader in the maritime industry.
