BOA Group: A Legacy of Maritime Excellence

BOA is a Norwegian limited company owned by Ole T. Bjørnevik and his children. With roots dating back to the 1970s, BOA has cemented its place as a leading provider of offshore services. The company initially embarked on its journey by offering harbor towage and general maritime services along the coast of Norway. Over the decades, BOA has expanded its horizons, evolving into a global maritime powerhouse.

Early Beginnings: The story of BOA began on July 1, 1975, when father and son, Arthur and Ole Torberg Bjørnevik, established Taubåtkompaniet AS. They started with a modest fleet of three tugboats, providing essential towage services in Norwegian waters. Their dedication and vision set the foundation for the company's future growth.

Expansion and Diversification: Through strategic investments and an unwavering commitment to excellence, BOA gradually expanded its fleet and services. Today, the company operates a diversified fleet of 30 units, including Tugs, Offshore Vessels, Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels, and both flattop and semi-submersible barges. These vessels support a wide range of operations, including:

  • Accommodation and Walk-to-Work Support Services
  • Sea Transport and Load-out and Launching of Heavy Objects
  • Rig Moves
  • Harbor and Coastal Towage and Salvage Operation

Milestones and Global Presence: A significant milestone in BOA's history occurred in 2012 when the company acquired the name of the renowned shipping company, Det Nordenfjeldske Dampskibsselskab, which had been dormant since 1989. This acquisition marked the beginning of a new era, reinforcing BOA's commitment to maritime heritage.

With its headquarters in Trondheim, Norway, and an additional office in Houston, Texas, BOA has established a global presence. The company is recognized as a leading player in the global market for heavy lift barges, providing essential services to clients worldwide. BOA employs approximately 150 individuals who contribute to its engineering and project management capacities in both Trondheim and Houston.
