Launching of Caissons for Belgium Energy Island
BOA is proud to announce that we have been awarded the prestigious contract for the launching of 23 caissons for the world’s first energy island, Princess Elisabeth Island, located in the Belgian part of the North Sea. This groundbreaking project will utilize our semi-submersible barge, BOABARGE 33, which has been specially modified to handle the load-outs of extreme weights over the stern.
To handle the launch of these caissons, each weighing up to 22,400 tons, BOA will deploy the semi-submersible BOABARGE 33. This impressive vessel, measuring 140 x 57.05 x 8.54 meters, has been specially modified to manage extreme weight load-outs over the stern. With the ability to submerge up to 21.5 meters of water above deck, a uniform deck strength of 31.5 t/m², and a free deck area of 5,800 m², the Boa Barge 33 is one of the most capable barges of its kind.
In addition to providing the barge, BOA’s scope of work includes comprehensive project engineering and operational management, ensuring the successful execution of this monumental project.
The Princess Elisabeth Island will play a crucial role in connecting offshore wind farms to the mainland and establishing new energy links with other European countries, including the United Kingdom and Denmark. This project marks a significant step forward in the transition to sustainable energy.
